When we were in Vegas, I drug Mike to see Mamma Mia, and I absolutely loved it!! Touching in parts, fun overall, and of course, very sing-along-able music. Now I can't wait for the movie, it is coming out July 18th. Anyone else planning to see it?

We'll definitely be seeing this one! I'm thinking it might be Emily's 2008 "Hairspray"!

I downloaded the soundtrack on iTunes, we have been having fun singing along, the girls love the music. I think the movie will be even more fun with both of them knowing the music beforehand.

Ok.........that was one of the FUNNEST (ok...not good grammar, I know!) movies I've seen in ages! If you liked Abba, if you ever sang any of their songs, you have to see this one! It was hysterical............middle aged women at the theater were dancing in the aisles at the end of the movie!!!! TOO funny. Oh, and don't get up to leave when the credits start to roll. There's more, and it's FUN. This is a great movie for a group of ladies to see together.
And Emily?? She grinned throughout the whole movie, but when we got home she told her dad "I hated that one". But, she is walking around the house singing "Mamma Mia". Go figure! I'LL be going again!

Just got back from the movie, and Susan, couldn't agree with you more! It was a lot of fun. I thought Meryl Streep was great, and her 2 friends, hilarious. I had a ball, and so did Laura and Kelly. Yes, I think I will go see it again!
They also showed the previews for HSM3 (High School Musical 3). Looks like it is going to be good, we are looking forward to that one in October.

So, get this!! Emily and I went back to see Mamma Mia again today! Emily kept saying she wanted to see it again (even after saying she really didn't like it Friday night), so we did. And she LOVED it!!! Now, she is saying it's her favorite movie "EVER". She bought the CD with some of her birthday money, and walks around the house singing "Dancing Queen". She now wants her dad to take her to see it again.
And, I agree Sharon......................Meryl's 2 friends absolutely cracked me up!!! Emily was doing impressions of one of them today; oh my!!! Honestly, the only thing I didn't like about the movie was the frequent use of the phrase "Oh My Gawwwwwdddddd" (VERY dramatic sounding). That will end up being the one thing Emily repeats from the movie, and it's a phrase I hate.
It's rated PG13, but I've been to lots of PG movies with worse language. Lots of innuendo in this one, but the language wasn't bad at all.

Kodi Lee and I just got back from this movie a bit ago and I AGREE OMG a GREAT Movie and a must see ;D BOTH of us noticed not only groups of woman but many mothers and daughters seeing this together ;D "And, I agree Sharon......................Meryl's 2 friends absolutely cracked me up" YUP I am with you gals on that OMG tooo funny. Did you noticed the one friend was I think "Martha" in the Grinch that stole Christmas. "Lots of innuendo in this one, but the language wasn't bad at all." I second you on that Susan I have to say seeing the guy that played James Bond sing was a bit much for me LOLOL I was very impressed with Meryl Streep and her singing Man oh Man I didn't know she could sing that well. And didn't you guys think the young actress that played her daughter looked as if she really could have been her daughter? Just a fun foot tapping flick for sure and if I could ever get to that island, I would be happy ;D CC ~

Movie critic I am NOT...but gotta say I liked the movie...BUT...I saw the stage production at Mandalay Bay in Vegas and frankly liked it better. I think its because the play is HIGH ENERGY...non stop...in fact when I saw it I was worn out myself. The movie is slower paced and to me a lot different even though same music and story line. It was played more like a romantic comedy. I think on the stage the story line is secondary to the music. My one criticism is...that I have no idea why they chose Pierce Brosnon sp? for the male lead cuz he has two very important songs in IMHO this guy can NOT sing.... LOL But anyway you look at it...the movie was good and I would encourage everyone to go see it. Jackie...at heart an eternal DANCING QUEEN

ROFL Silly Jackie.................no, they didn't pick Pierce to be in the movie for his singing ability! They picked him cause he looks SO good! And I don't think Meryl Streep minded kissing him either!

After seeing the play on stage in Las Vegas, I couldn't imagine a better person for that role than Pierce Brosnan. But I have to agree, singing isn't his strength, and frankly, took some guts to give it a try.
I thought her wedding dress was gorgeous, and the scene where you first see the church up on top of the rock, with the long, lighted path up to the church. Boy, I know where I would love to take special vacation one day.
