Heather , Mike , Cate (almost 5) and Callen ( almost 1 DS). Brunswick Ohio 20 mins south of Cleveland. CAllen has 2 insurances my husband and I both pulled out ours from work and it still does not cover the bills. We have Cal in private therapy. We make too much money for Family Resource money. It stinks because we spend too much money on medical bills. We paid $13,500 last year and he wasn't born until April. There is no break for the middle class.

Kerri, Ken, and Yosh in Passaic, NJ. The Essex ARC has a program called Stepping Stones for kids with ds from birth to 9 yrs old. Yosh goes twice a week for an hour and gets ot, pt, and speech. What I love is being in a room with other moms/dads and babies while the therapists see 1 or 2 kids at a time.
The Judy Center is an evaluation/referral center at Hakensack Hospital. They see your child once a year and keep comprehensive medical records which follow him to adulthood. Dr. Fred Hirschenfang is fantastic. ;D
Also , register with your local Dept of Developmental Disabilities for help paying for things your insurance doesn't cover.

Anyone out there from KY? We live in Alexandria (right across from Cincinnati). Fortunately for us, after I quit work after Noah was born, he qualified for SSI (but barely...If my husband ever gets a raise we will probably make too much money) and we get Medicaid because of being eligible for SSI. We were told if not eligible for SSI that makes you not eligible for Medicaid. We also get WIC right now but only because Noah is eligible for the Mediciad. So we are borderline. Noah also has insurance through my husband but it's a wonderful 80/20 plan. AAGGHH!!

My name is Rene we live in Beaverton Oregon. My son Jordan is 13 months. We do not qualify for SSI or medicaid. I just found out my insurance will not cover at PT/OT if it is related to him having down syndrome. We have a play group that has a PT/OT/ST we go to 1 time a week thru the school dist.
