I LOVE personal gifts....photos...etc....maybe putting together an album of all you guys when you were younger and going through the years..... or....
at our local mall there are always kiosks with different twists on photos.....one guys "draws" a portrait from a picture....I htink he scans it into the computer and gets the background lines and then draws it as a black and white sketch.....my parents gave me a pic of my 3 kids a couple of years ago and I lOVE it.... Another year there was a kiosk that would imprint your photo onto a piece of granite......it was really cool !! The photo was etched into the granite.....I gave my brothers one.....of all us kids when we were young......all lined up in a row ( like we were for all photos for all occaions) !! It was just different enough to stand out ! Photos of houses, or pets are also equally cool to give.
I also like the other suggetion of tickets to a show or play.... a planned night out is always great ! and another great gift....(i know I would LOVE)....but it is NOT very personal.......a gift cetificate to have their car detailed......nothing better than a brand new feeling car...or even better take it and get it done for them....save them the hassle of dropping it, etc.....

I am addicted to all the home decorating shows on TV....and they have a whole bunch now regarding just this subject...."sprucing" up the house just to turn around and sell it.....they all say the same as everyone else has written here.....de-clutter, de-personalize, and CLEAN !! Front entryway is especially important as this is the first impression of the house, stairs neatly swept ? Door clean and finger streak free ? Hence.....I am NEVER moving !!

The Middle Wife By an Anonymous 2nd grade teacher I've been teaching now for about fifteen years. I have two kids myself, but the best birth story I know is the one I saw in my own second-grade classroom a few years back. When I was a kid, I loved show-and-tell. So I always have a few sessions with my students. It helps them get over shyness and usually, show-and-tell is pretty tame. Kids bring in pet turtles, model airplanes, pictures of fish they catch, stuff like that. And I never, ever place any boundaries or limitations on them. If they want to lug it in to school and talk about it, they're welcome. Well, one day this little girl, Erica, a very bright, very outgoing kid, takes her turn and waddles up to the front of the class with a pillow stuffed under her sweater.
She holds up a snapshot of an infant. "This is Luke, my baby brother, and I'm going to tell you about his birthday. First, Mom and Dad made him as a sym! bol of their love, and then Dad put a seed in my Mom's stomach, and Luke grew in there. He ate for nine months through an umbrella cord."
She's standing there with her hands on the pillow, and I'm trying not to laugh and wishing I had my camcorder with me. The kids are watching her in amazement.
"Then, about two Saturdays ago, my Mom starts saying and going, 'Oh, oh, oh, oh!' " Erica puts a hand behind her back and groans. "She walked around the house for, like an hour, 'Oh, oh, oh!'" Now this kid is doing a hysterical duck walk and groaning.
"My Dad called the middle wife. She delivers babies, but she doesn't have a sign on the car like the Domino's man. They got my Mom to lie down in bed like this." Then Erica lies down with her back against the wall.
"And then, pop! My Mom had this bag of water she kept in there in case he got thirsty, and it just blew up and spilled all over the bed, like psshhheew!" This kid has her legs spread and with her little hands are miming water flowing away. It was too much!
"Then the middle wife starts saying 'push, push,' and 'breathe, breathe.' They started counting, but never even got past ten. Then, all of a sudden, out comes my brother. He was covered in yucky stuff, they all said it was from Mom's play-center!, so there must be a lot of stuff inside there."
Then Erica stood up, took a big theatrical bow and returned to her seat. I'm sure I applauded the loudest. Ever since then, if it's show-and-tell day, I bring my camcorder, just in case another Erica comes along.
Now you have two choices...laugh and close this page or pass this along to someone else to spread the laughs. I know what I did!! Live every day as if it is your LAST chance to make someone happy

***Quite a few of these "tips" I KNOW I picked up right here at Unomas Offtopic & Just for fun Board I want to thank all of you who have taken the time and trouble to send me your d**n chain letters over the past few years. Yes, thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of what's left of my heart for making me feel safe, secure, blessed, and wealthy. Because of your concern...I no longer can drink Coca Cola because it can remove toilet stains. I no longer drink anything out of a can because I will get sick from the rat feces and urine. I no longer use Saran wrap in the microwave because it causes cancer. I no longer check the coin return on pay phones because I could be pricked with a needle infected with AIDS. I no longer use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a water buffalo on a hot day I no longer use margarine because it's one molecule away from being plastic. I no longer go to shopping malls because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me. I no longer receive packages from UPS or FedEx since they are actually Al Qaeda in disguise. I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a stupid number for which I will get the phone bill from hell with calls to Jamaica, Uganda, Singapore, and Uzbekistan. I no longer eat KFC because their chickens are actually horrible mutant freaks with no eyes or feathers. I no longer date the opposite sex because they will take my kidneys and leave me taking a nap in a bathtub full of ice. I no longer buy expensive cookies from Neiman Marcus since I now have their recipe. I no longer worry about my soul because I have 363,214 angels looking out for me and St. Theresa's novena has granted my every wish. Thanks to you, I have learned that God only answers my prayers if I forward an email to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes. (Geez, the BIBLE did not mention it works that way!) I no longer have any savings because I gave it to a sick girl who is about to die in the hospital (for the 1,387,258th time). I no longer have any money at all, but that will change once I receive the $15,000 that Microsoft and AOL are sending me for participating in their special e-mail program. Yes, I want to thank all of you soooooooo much for looking out for me! I will now return the favor. If you don't send this e-mail to at least 1200 people in the next 60 seconds, a large bird with diarrhea will crap on your head at 5:00 PM this afternoon and the fleas of a thousand camels will infest your armpits. I know this will occur because it actually happened to a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of my next door neighbor's ex-mother-in-law's 8th husband's 2nd cousin's 3rd husband's ex-wife's mother's beautician.

Susan....try the supplements ! I NEVER used to take any vitamins...but my docotr recommended it last time I was there.....and man....I do have a little more energy....I'm not flipping cartwheels or anything.....but the supplelements I take where all on that list....so maybe there is something to it ! My real age was a teeny bit younger than my actual age.....TRUST ME.....most days I feel older than I am....so I probably got "points' for taking the supplements. Diet & exercisae are definitely somthing I need to work on as well.....can we start a whole new section for that ??

Christie.....I know where you are coming from becasue prices went up IMMEDIATELY after Katrina hit.....some of that gas must have been purchased at the OLD price...... there MUST be reserves, etc......and I find it hard to believe that the gas I pumped the next day was newly purchased gasoline at the newly purchased price......know what I what I mean ? Our company has also prided itself on NOT chargin custumers a sucharge for gasoline expense.....but considering EVRYONE ELSE is charging us and now to pay OVER $3......we have to pass it on as well......I HATE taht !

I'm buying a Hybrid......next time around I swear !! Prices here (massachusetts) are about $3.35 for the cheap stuff.....it does vary .....I've seen it as low as $3.19....but avg. seem $ 3.35 Different stations charge different prices like any other store..... based on their overhead....one may have a lower rent and can bring their prices down more..... It's so funny that you posted this, Susan....I was just thinking about the thread dedicated to this last year & was going to bump it back up to the top....to see what we thought was high "back then"
