Actually, the mother lost as well IMO.
My DH and I were talking about the difference in the 60's vs. today. I can't imagine seeing a baby like Violette and saying to DH, yup, you are right, she should be sent away. NO WAY. But I would have been a different person brought up in a different time with different attitudes.

I'm glad Vanity Fair published this the way it did!

I thought the commentary how certain tests miss types of intelligence, and his comments about how many other people have we made assumptions about at the end really interesting...

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I can't tell if the fault is with the person who wrote the article, or if he just is hard to pin down on what he actually believes.

www.nzherald.co.nz/category/story.cfm?c_id=301&objectid=10457364And tell me how you think this dude is anticipating "curing" DS... I can't tell if he's ignorant enough to think that bt screening for DS you can wipe it out through termination, or if he is pushing for a "cure" through gene therapy... I'm thinking the first...ugh...

Really? Well, I'll work to get an adjustment. I'm used to really high rates for corporate meetings, so what you are talking about is a steal!

I think she said $164...she found the rate, I believe and put me in the block. I said all of these words when I was talking to her:
Down Syndrome Association, NDSC NATIONAL CONVENTION National Down Syndrome Conference
At my day job we hold conferences, and the hotels never have everything right in the system when the block is open. They have it one specific way in the system, and can't find it if you say something else. That's why I tried so many different things.

How does she do with the suppositories? If she does ok, you might want to consider "Fever-all" suppositories and see if that kills two birds with one stone, as they say...my oldest typical child has always HATED taking liquid meds and was impossible to get her to do it. Now she takes pill form (she has since she was 5) and it is MUCH easier. But we used feverall quite a bit when she was in her impossible stage. Sometimes you have to ask the pharmacist for these - for some reason they don't keep them on the shelf. www.feverall.com/retail.html
