I know it's about six months away, but I thought we could keep this thread here about the NDSC conference in Kansas City, to make sure everyone knows about it! For anyone who has never gone to one of the conferences, PLEASE consider this one!!! It will be very informative and FUN!!! You'll meet LOTS of great families, and hear some awesome speakers. And hey....you can also meet up with fellow Uno Masers! The conference is August 3-5th in Kansas City. Here is the link to the NDSC website. We'll be talking more and more about this conference in the months to come. Let us hear from those who plan to attend!! www.ndsccenter.org/

Ok...I already have two rooms reserved. If you are even thinking of going...I would advise reserving a room...won't cost ya anything and you can get rid of it if you find out it's not in your travel plans.
It is disappointing not to be able to find a room anywhere near by at the last minute.
Staying at the conference hotel is also part of the 'experience' and a terrific place to network with people from all over.

Ok, I just booked a room. Although this is something I want to do so bad I can't stand it, I don't have everything figured out with the kiddos yet.
MB - do you have any info yet on programs for our kids w/Ds and the ages, etc.??
Thanks.
Jessie

Susan,
You posted the dates at 8/2 - 8/4 but the site has them as 8/3-8/5.
Are you positive of your dates....just wanted to make sure as I know you had been working with MB to get things changed. Connie

YIKES.........so sorry guys!!! I posted this in a hurry, based on my FAILING memory! Thanks A for changing the dates on my post.
I'm planning to go, and will decide about what to do about Emily. Jessie, I can't remember how old Jason is, but they have a VERY COOOL thing for young adults with Down syndrome who are FIFTEEN and older. I so much want Emily to get to go to that again.......and since she says she is NOT going to high school, I'm sure it will be ok for her to go to KC! Now I better book a room. Susan

YAHOO............My room is now booked! I'm planning for Em to go to the self advocates activities on Friday, so we'll arrive on Thurs night and check out on Sunday. Getting VERY excited about this! I suggest that EVERYONE book their rooms now. They told me I could cancel up to 3pm on the day before our arrival. Don't want to take any chances on not getting a room. Last year, I said I wouldn't mind staying somewhere else (hoping to save $$), but staying in the conference hotel was SO much fun! Just running off to get something to eat, I would run into other parents and kids with Ds and it was lots of fun. I definitely recommend staying at the Crown Center!!
Jessie......that's such a bummer! I was hoping Emily would have several handsome young men to dance with!!

Guys I am so sorry, but until plans are finalized, I can't report a thing! Do book your rooms now! You can always cancel, but I can pretty much guarantee you will not get in the last minute. The $109 rate is an absolute bargain for this great hotel/entertainment center.

We are also looking into going this year since it isn't real far away for us. I was wondering though if anyone knew how close the Hilton was to the conference center. I work at a hilton and can get discounted rooms so was going to go ahead and book our rooms but want to make sure it isn't real far away.
