*I* just can not believe I came to this board and saw this!!! Thank you so much ladies. I am now officially OLD, at age 40 *sigh*. My husband is taking me to see Grease on Sat in NYC, and today, we are having a party with the kids. Did I ever tell you how much Paige loves parties? Anyway, thank you so much. I was thinking the other day how it has been 4 years since I regularily posted on Uno, and would like to be back!

We have Playstation 2 an XBox 360 and a VTech and Paige is a whiz on all of them - better than me. She will get a Leapster for Christmas to see how she does with the handheld games.

Hi! Thank you so much for your replies. I think we will either fly into Dayton or Indianapolis - probably Dayton. We are going to see Dr. Daniel Lovell in rheumatology, as Paige was just diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis/arthropathy of Down syndrome/Down's arthritis - however you want to term it, it's all the same, but still different in our kids. There are not many who have "alot" of experience with this...so we are coming to see him for a second opinion on 11/17 - flying in on the 16th. We are fortunate to live close to two wonderful childrens hospitals and I have one of the worlds best, however due to drug choices and side effects, I wanted to see someone as good if not better than my doctor for second opinion.
Again, thank you so much for your input. I used to be a regular on UnoMas...but there is just no time anymore!!! I still know where to go to get the best information!

I am making a trip to Cincinnati Childrens Hospital in November, and am trying to figure out how far Columbus is from Cincinnati and which airport I should fly into. Flights direct into Cinci are much more costly than say Indanapolis, Columbus or Lexington... Anyone with Ohio info would be greatly appreciated! Debbie

My daughter just had something that looked exactly like this. Does the rash feel sandpapery or bumpy? She had Scarlet Fever rash which is related to strep throat. Good luck!

Does anyone have any examples they could share? Or, if no actual examples, could you type what questions/information is on yours? Thanks!!

I'm not sure Alice, I think sometimes people are just "busy" in their everyday lives.
I will speak for myself though and I'm hoping this doesn't start a huge thing, it just seems like the right opportunity to actually post something I've noticed. Although I am very busy, I do come everyday and read to see if there is anything I can add to or just to see what is going on in peoples lives. RECENTLY, over the past few months or so, although there are tons of great posts, there also seems to be a higher degree of "tension" on this board - I'm not sure why, or even what post might spark it, so it definately deters me from posting.
Again, this is only MY opinion. I also hope everyone is dong great in their lives.

A couple has a dog that snores. Annoyed because she can't sleep, the wife goes to the vet to see if he can help. The vet tells the woman to tie a ribbon around the dog's testicles and he will stop snoring. "Yeah right!" she says. A few minutes after going to bed, the dog begins snoring, as usual. The wife tosses and turns, unable to sleep. Muttering to herself, she goes to the closet and grabs a piece of red ribbon and ties it carefully around the dog's testicles. Sure enough, the dog stops snoring! The woman is amazed! Later that night, her husband returns home drunk from being out drinking with his buddies. He climbs into bed, falls asleep and begins snoring loudly. The woman thinks maybe the ribbon might work on him. So she goes to the closet again, grabs a piece of blue ribbon and ties it around her husband's testicles. Amazingly, it also works on him! The woman sleeps soundly. He wakes from his drunken stupor and stumbles into the bathroom. As he stands in front of the toilet, he glances in the mirror and sees a blue ribbon attached to his privates. He is very confused and as he walks back into the bedroom, he sees the red ribbon attached to his dog's testicles. He shakes his head and looks at the dog and whispers, "I don't know where we were, or, what we did, but, by God, we took first and second place!!!

Laurie,
Sorry I am so late on this, but I just saw it and haven't been around alot lately.........
Prayers are coming this way from me as well. I know how you must be feeling now.... my mom had Ovarian cancer.........
The bad news is that she eventually did pass away from this.......the GOOD NEWS is that she lived with the disease for 12 years AFTER they told her she only had 6 months to survive..........SO, keep your head up, doctors talk grim but half the time dont know what they are talking about, and we'll be here sending the prayers up for you!!!
Take care, Debbie

This is a two Kleenex moment, get ready:
"Like Me"
I went to my dad and said to him, There's a new kid who's come to my school. He's different from me and he isn't too cool. No, he's nothing at all like me, like me, No, he's nothing at all like me.
He runs in a funnyish jerkyish way And he never comes first in a race Sometimes he forgets which way is first base, And he's nothing at all like me, like me, No, he's nothing at all like me.
He studies all day in a separate class And they say that it's called "Special Ed." And sometimes I don't understand what he's said, And he's nothing at all like me, like me, No, he's nothing at all like me.
His face looks kind of different from mine, And his talking is sometimes so slow And it makes me feel funny and there's one thing I know; He is nothing at all like me, like me, No, he's nothing at all like me!
And my father said, "Son, I want you to think When you meet some one different and new That he may seem a little bit strange, it's true, But he's not very different from you, from you, No, he's not very different from you,"
Well I guess, I admitted, I've looked at his face; When he's left out of games, he feels bad. And when other kids tease him, I can see he's so sad. I guess that's not so different from me, from me, No, that's not very different from me.
And when we're in Music, he sure loves to sing, And he sings just like me, right out loud. When he gets his report card, I can tell he feels proud, And that's not very different from me, from me, No, that's not very different from me.
And I know in the lunchroom he has lots of fun; He loves hot dogs and ice cream and fries. And he hates to eat spinach and that's not a surprise, 'Cause that's not very different from me, from me, No, that's not very different from me.
And he's always so friendly, he always says hi, And he waves and he calls out my name. And he'd like to be friends and get into a game, Which is not very different from me, from me, No, I guess that's not different from me.
And his folks really love him. I saw them at school, I remember on Open School Night -- They were smiling and proud and they hugged him real tight, And that's not very different from me, from me, No, that's not very different from me.
So I said to my dad, Hey, you know that new kid? well, I've really been thinking a lot. Some things are different . . . and some things are not . . . But mostly he's really like me, like me, Yes, my new friend's . . . a lot . . . like me.

OMG The responses to this are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT, but the story itself is very sad The answer could only be "B" - and please tell me they do not have children watching this!!! The sad part Alice, is that this type of thing does go on in the US, probably more than we even think!! Debbie
