funny you should mention that bob... we just got back from DC (molly's big sis is Sr Legal Policy Advisor at the FTA (sub of DOT) *BEAM* anyway...i took my folks on a tour of the capitol and we got in with the congressman from Indiana (you guys ROCK! MY congresswoman was too busy!) and he got us into the gallery. It was FAB as the vote they were working on, wasnt one where they could vote from their offices...they HAD to be there!! (So we got to see all the big cheeses) Mr Indiana was extremely irritated, because a vote that should have only lasted an hour or two, was stretching past 4 hours....and he BEGGED us to let him take molly kate to the floor, so that she could show them ALL, how easy it was to vote. I was a little unsure about having molly's 'enhancement' being used to shame the congress....but it was too sweet to pass up. When it was time to go??? she decided if mom and dad couldnt come...she wasn't going! hehehehehe gotta love her...so i guess OFFICIALLY, mr cole IS the youngest!! (but it wasnt for lack of trying on my part!) www.myspace.com/downsyndrome_awareness

from an older kid...and miss molly kate will be seven tomorrow
she never was a cryer, and when were shopping we'd make her close her eyes when a 'neuro-tippy' was throwing the big tamptrum...'NOOOOOOOOO DON'T LOOK!"
great for a late in life mommy...she's always soooooooo calm!
but
she also had awful lung problems....alot of bronchitis, and 3-4 trips to the hospital with pneumonia....we do some 'cycstic' moves on her back to help her get the yuck out!
i think the lack of crying, as well as low muscle tone of the diaphragm contribute to the lung stuff. We use singular in the winter...as it helps with the amount of fluid in there...and had to thickin her thin liquids as she aspirated them.(swalllow study) She never seemed to be able to cough it out!! and there it would sit, and infect!
When i took her to her first day of kindergarten, i wrote a note to the teachers...the last paragraph of it said "if she cries, you need to call me....because she won't cry unless something is REALLY wrong! (or broken...sheeez)
It really makes me nuts now, as she doesnt verbalize much and sometime when she crashes...she'll just blow it off...and then the next day? i find a HUGE bruise!! makes me feel like the WORST mom in the WORLD!!
she proved that to them the first month of school, when she decided to jump off the top of the tornado slide. One aide on the stairs, on at the slide's bottom, and she just takes a flying leap off the top! (why? who knows...must looked fun to jump a couple of stories!)
she landed on her feet, and then sat down! Teach told me she probably wouldn't have cried at all...had they all not been screaming and panicking!! I swear her aide almost fainted, and started crying when she was telling me about it! She must have shoved her thighs right up to her neck!! (her aide at the time was a teacher with 3 of her own)
good luck...these are our kids. and it always seems like an exchange with them....but her way?? the pos always supercede the negs!!

heya NOTHER larry...MY larry is the primary care giver, too!!
although im in the process of interviewing a summer nanny because he won't let me retire, and she is definitely a TWO PERSON WATCHER!! :-) The last time he tried to go potty, i picked her up about a 1/4 mile from the house when returning from work!!
(He took early retirement when we found out about molly after 35 years with the State Patrol)
the school thing....i too am at a loss, but wonder...have you GONE to school??? Larry would show up unexpectedly, and sneak in when we were having some issues with molly (she REFUSED to reenter the school after recess)
It just took one time, and then we were done with it! and AFTER if she was really acting out...."do we call daddy?" was the one question that would bring her back to reality!
I saw on the news last week, that AT&T is offering 'kid cam' where they will install a camera at school, and you can watch from your PC at home!!
99 bucks to start and 10/month! YAY!
Good Luck!
