We definitely need to meet up. Do you still have my number? If not I can email it to you but you absolutely have to give me a call. Mickey D's sounds great! Anyone else in the Chicago area who wants to meet up too just let us know!

Ok A.~I didn't think about Patrick leveling off if I kept him at his same school for one more year but that's definitely a concern. Oh my gosh~there's always so much to consider! Well, I have to say once again that this is why I love this place so much~it's great to get different viewpoints!

Alice~I too have to face this decision. Patrick turned 5 in Oct. so he could officially stay at his preschool for another year or he could go to kindergarten. I haven't made the decision yet but am leaning towards keeping him in preschool for one more year because I dont think he'll have enough of the skills he should have for kindergarten. I think these decisions are so hard and it's nice to know there are others out there who are having the same struggles and thoughts~good to know we're not alone, not that you're having struggles! I know I didnt answer your question but Patrick will probably be the same age as Luke when he starts kindergarten. Mary

What a great story~I'm sure Aidan was adorable getting pushed down the hallway saying Weee...how cute is that?!?!
I bet you felt so good when he signed and said I love you~I still remember the first time Patrick said it to me~I think it's something we will never forget. Mary

I am not personally offended by the term mentally retarded when used medically - like others, however, I am upset when I hear the word retard or the phrase "you are so retarded"used. To me it is putting someone down and that is not what retarded is- it just means slow in development. My husband and I always look at each other now when somebody uses it around us. We know that they don't mean to be offensive, because unfortunately it has become part of everyday language, but having a son who is mentally retarded or developmentally delayed or however you want to say it, it does become offensive. Hopefully we can educate a few people and perhaps even change their habits. It is interesting to see how things in my world have changed since Patrick was born - things that I would not have given a second thought to before now stick out like a sore thumb. I try not to be overly sensitive about things and keep them in perspective. It is so interesting to see everyone's views on this topic - I love how we can all come here and express ourselves and see how other people feel! ;D

Wpuld love the Spring Hill Suites. With our big family a suite makes a huge difference. We have stayed at Spring Hill Suites before and been very happy with them. Was talking more to Bernie about it and it seems like it could really be a possibility for us!

OK~I wasn't even going to reply to this thread because the last couple of get togethers I thought we might make and then ended up not being able to do it~but I just cant stay out of it~I really want to see everyone!
I was talking to Bernie about it and he seemed to think Pittsburg was a reasonable drive~just over 7 hours for us~as usual the issue is money and how much we will have at the time. I can't commit to going now but as the date gets closer I will know more. So hopefully I will be seeing everyone in July!
