Thanks all for you kind and quick responses. I wil let you know. Of course I did the bad thing and Googled. Since Dani is kind of tall for being 5 at 42 inches and her wieght is at 42 pounds, I did not think anything is going on with her thyroid. Reminder--never google things. All of you have been the best resource. Okay, bad me I am going to google hashimotos--thanks Steffi. I am also upset with her father too. He never responded to my email when I had her tested and all he said was let him know I find out. Course he was never supportive in the beginning and puts up an act now that we are divorced. Sometimes, I feel so alone. But, am so blessed and thankful for Dani So- have NO reasons to complain-EVER. Will let you know. We could do meds.I hope that is all it is. I wish I could get meds for a sluggish Throid ;D Do yo think I can get something to speed up my thyoid to get rid of my roley poley belly. Hugs, Kim

I think it is pretty atypical as their center of gravity is different then ours and our loves have to compensate to stabalize. I know Dani runs with her arms down and has to be reminded to put her arms up to run.
Great question.

Okay moms and dads. I am freaking out.
I took Dani in for her kindergarten check up and her Dr. was worried because she has not grown much since her last visit. She is currently 42" and 42#. She had me get her thyroid test done. I did not do it last year. Anyway, my Dr. called twice to talk about the results but would not leave any info.
Does anyone have any insight to what could be going on with Dani's thyoid and if so what do you do?
Thanks for any input.
Kim

I am not sure if I posted this before.
My sister in law is the long term care Adminstrator for the DD community. One of their sensitivity trainings involved taking a starbusrt candy and placing it on the middle back of your tongue. Now try and talk to one another. This is supposeg to emulate what individuals with DS feel like when they are speaking. I guess it has to do with tongue and palette.
A group of us did it. It was kind of difficult to speak and our voice and ability to speak did change.
Let me know if anyone does it and what you thought. Kim

I had no idea there were references that were derogatory to our precious loves whether it be DS or something else.
I was looking forward to seeing this movie as I like silly humor and like Ben Stiller. I know I am weird. BUT, now NO WAY.
Our local ARC and DS group is keeping us informed and the word is spreading.
I talked with my nephews today and asked them not to go. They are 13 and 15 and will not go either as they adore Dani and are very sensitive to anyone with a disability. I am so proud of them. I can see them telling their friends. As the word gets out maybe fewer people will attend. I just hope people aren't intrigued by our outrage to be attracted to it, just to find out what all the fuss is about.
I hope it looses money and proves to be a big flop. It is time for the entertainment community to STOP hurting those who offer the most unconditional love, joy and honesty. We would all be better people if we could see through their eyes (meaning our loves and all people with special needs). (Again, just my humble opinion).

Just checking to see if anyone who submitted photos for the NDSS Times Square Video has heard anything back?
Dani was on two years ago. I wrote a suggestion to them that since they get so many responses to try and spread it out every year and allow the opportunity for other beautiful kids to be "spotlighted".
I also suggested to NDSS to find a distibutor of checks with the NDSS logo or Buddy Walk logo on it with part of the proceeds from purchasing the checks going back to National. I immediately received a response, as it was not thought of before. The kind lady who responded said she was getting road blocked. I sure hope I can proudly present a Down Syndrome Awareness check as payment for something some day. Just my humble opinion and thought.

It's beautiful. I would love that shade of red. Hope it stays that way.

I am sure it will be lovely as it softens. I am a natural red head but have to enhance it now due to those pesky grays. I actually got asked if my hair color was real. I love being a red hed. And Emily has the Spirit and feistyness to pull it off.

Yay, yay, yay. I am so glad you had a great experience. I one time approached someone right after my precious love was born and got a very cold shoulder. We are all on the journey together. Bless that young man and your beautiful Brook.
