Oh my! That's a new one for me...it really is a problem. I wish I could help, but it sounds like you might be on the right track. "no play" maybe you can try "not drinking water" "yucky" I don't know where her understanding is at. I don't think Damara would get that, but it's worth a try?? Sorry, I sure hope someone can help you

Hi everyone, I am new to this board and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Shirley and I have 3 children. Shane, 27,married and in the Army currently in Iraq. Sara, 25,married, husband in the Navy and currently in Hawaii with our only Grandson who is turning 2! AND Damara, 3 1/2 living at home with us of course with Down Syndrome. Damara has been a wonderful addition and a joy to have in our family. She had heart surgery at 2 mo, tonsils and adnoids removed and 3 sets of ear tubes. Other than your typical colds and sinus issues, she has actually been pretty healthy. She is currently in the public school system and doing pretty well. She is currently delayed speech due to not receiving Speech therapy earlier due to lack of therapists in the system available. GRRRR! This has always been an issue with us and a fight we did not win! But she is learning much in school and starting to speak...so we are very hopeful.... Can't wait to meet you all--- Shirley

Hey Tricia! Glad I found you! Miss hearing about your family and of course cutie Andrew...We moved to Texas in May and having some challenges, but over all like it here. Damara has been going to the Opthamologist since she has been around 1ish...she has her eyes tested via equipment since she is not verbal and cannot participate in the school nurse thing! They have special equipment and they also have dialated her eyes too...Not so much fun, but not painful... Good Luck and can't wait to hear more about the family! Kisses to Andrew for us!

I'm sorry, I just cannot offer any ideas on this. I just wonder if he is going through some type of virus that is effecting his sinus and bowels? KWIM? I sure do hope he starts feeling better really soon!

Damara's joints "pop" all the time. Her hips, knees, sholders. She is extremly flexible (typical) we had her checked out by a ortho, they did a complete set of x-rays and she is fine. Just from low muscle tone. We have kinda gotten use to it. and with age it has gotten better! I hope not to offend anyone, but we like to refer to her as "gumby" because she is so flexible. It blows us away the way she can move her self into strange positions!

Damara doesn't have an issue with the dark, HOWEVER, she HATES when we go in reverse. She will scream, cry, etc...until we are stopped and going forward! Go Figure huh?

About what age do they start the shot series? Obviously Damara is too young, but I was just wondering.

Hers is very thick and goes from the top of her mouth to the gum/teeth line. It is very large and will likely affect her perm teeth placement/spacing. But they will wait to see once the perm teeth start to come in.

The muscle I'm talking about is...if you take your tongue and stick it between your upper teeth and lips, all the way up you will feel a little muscle that connects the two. Hers is from the top of the gums and connects right to the bottom of the gum. I'll try to take a photo so you can see it. It's very hard to explain...sorry I'm not better about this.
