True; well sort of. I have a ton of projects lined up, but it has nothing to do with the kids being back in school since I work M-F 8-5:30.
TPBM loves Wii bowling as much as their kids do!

When it rains, it pours! Liv was just having an "interesting" hour or so, and I'm sure her granny will still be willing to take care of her. Let us know how it goes when the 911 people show her class the video...........great idea!

It's always so worrisome when docs do that. It really does sound like her thyroid could be low, and the doc wants to talk about medications. Keep us informed.

I've thought about this off and on all day.........wondering how *I* can best use my time to help those who were responsible for this atrocious movie to see that it is all-out wrong. I had a talk with my kids about it, and encouraged them to talk to their friends about it. As I've said before about the use of the word "retard", if one person can convince just one more person to stop using this term (and the hateful attitude behind it) and that one person convinces just one more................on and on it goes. It CAN be stopped. One thing I've heard is that all our attempts to get this movie stopped will only give more attention to it and will end up promoting it. I hope that's not the case.
"I hope others will join me in shutting this movie out of our lives and our pocketbooks. We don't live in times when labeling and humiliating others is funny. And we should send that message far and wide."
So, besides the petitions and emails..........what to do? Letter to the editor of our local newspapers that would encourage local citizens to boycot the movie? Write an article for the local high school newspapers? For now, I'm going to forward this info to everyone I know; especially those who have any contact with teens, because that is the group I think will be most adversely affected by this movie.

Oops! I forgot to mention this: I took my 2 kids and met with our best friends (who had been living in New Mexico for 5 years and just moved to Northern Indiana; Warsaw) at the Clarksville Holiday Inn for a couple days recently. It had been 4 years since we had seen them, and it was a great meeting place for us.........just about 1/2way for both of us. The hotel was $58/night, and they gave us a $2 coupon for the little water park behind it. It has a wave pool, 4 water slides and a nice little kids area. We paid only $5 per person to get in, but I think it's $6 for weekend days. We had a great time! And, the hotel has an indoor pool and an outdoor pool. (But NO free breakfast). Just thought I'd toss that out there, for those who might want to use that location as a get together spot. Of course, there might be other places farther North that would be easier for many.

I'm so sorry to be so sloowwwwwwww on this one. We just keep talking about IF we can go anywhere for Labor day weekend, and the kids keep tossing in ideas on where they'd like to go. (Jordan is begging to go South, to the beach and take a couple of his friends with us who have never gone to the beach, and I keep thinking "how many more years will he beg us to take him and his friends somewhere??) So, we simply can't decide..........yet. And the days are flying by!
So, for right now I'm going to say this: Please don't count on our family. As much as I would LOVE to get together with any and all Uno Masers, I'm just not sure right now if it's doable for us. So, rather than keeping everyone else "on hold", I hope that anyone who can get together WILL. Some of my very best memories are from Uno Mas gatherings!!!!! I'm hoping we can manage a larger SUMMER get together next year??

One of the articles I just read had this quote from Gene Stallings just after hearing that his son had been born with Down syndrome:
"We cried a bushel of tears." The article then says: "Those tears turned into a lifetime of smiles. "
I think that is so descriptive of most of our families here............saddened at first, followed by a lifetime of smiles with our kids.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this! We had heard so many good things about Coach Stallings and how involved his son was with the football team. I know he'll be missed by many! Susan

CC, As one of the moms who told you over the years that camp is a GOOD thing, I do totally understand how concerned you are right now. And, as many years as Emily has gone to camp, I still get those feelings each time! And every single year, she has a WONDERFUL time. She always says she doesn't want to go, but then we can clearly see in her eyes when she returns that camp was a GOOD experience for her. Chris has had tons of awesome experiences; like at his summer program and the little getaways they did with him. This will be no different..........I'm sure of it! Just keep telling yourself he's ok....over and over. Try to enjoy something every single day; it will make the time go by so much faster. One thing I am always amazed by is that Emily always seems OLDER to me when she returns from camp! And, that's a good thing too.
Hugs to you. Can't wait to read all about his fun experiences when he returns!
