Chris, I just took Collin to the doctor last week for and illness and we discussed his eczema he gets every fall and has until late spring. She is having me use a mild steroid cream for 2 weeks then use ELIDEL for 2 weeks and repeat. So far it is starting to clear up but we have only been doing this for about 10 days now. She did tell me to get something thick like vasoline or a cream and cake it on his cheeks when he goes out...use it as a barrier. Connie

A. My FIL is a doctor and when Griffin was little about 2 he stuck something into his nose and we had to have grandpa help us get it out and he told me this story. This child about 5 or so stuck something up his nose...a bean, piece of corn etc...well the mother did not want make the child uncomfortable and it didn't seem to be bothering him so she left it up there. By the time my FIL saw him it was festering and the continually had that gunk running from his nose...her thought was it will come out sooner or later...YUK. Could he have something up there causing a problem....Just a thought. Hope things get better.

A. Not just poor Russell but poor you. Collin gets cold that linger, too. His usually last 2-3 weeks instead of the normal 7-10 days. But, I refuse to take him out of school because he would never be there if I did. I have only had them complain 1x and I provided a doctors note and have not heard anything more from them. I just explained he can be sick at home just as easy as he can at school and this way he is getting his therapies and education!! He's not contagious and not running a fever...so deal!! But, don't get me wrong if he is really sick, running a high fever and lathargic I do keep him home. Hugs, Connie

Alice, No, I'm not upset with Collin at all and I love the fact that he is talking and communicating with me but all the WHYYYYYYYYYYY's wear me out. The bad part is he knows it bothers me and will just SMILE when he asks WHY!!!....He's such a little SNOT!! A. - When he does ask WHY and its something I can engage him in conversation in I do but he's usually asking me WHY because I have just told him to STOP doing something!!!....He is really CHEEKY!! Bad Bad boy but it's to cute....annoying but cute!! Connie

If I hear "WHY" 1 time a day I hear it a thousand and no matter what I say as the answer its never good enough because he come back with "BUT WHY" UGH!!! So I have turned the tables on him and started asking him WHY...Yikes!!! he has now started telling me "CAUSE" UGH!!! HELP!!! it's driving me NUTS and he thinks it's a joke!!! Connie

OK, I really have no advice to offer except for consistancy!!!with what ever form of disipline you choose. I am going to have to agree with MB...I think it is one of those quirkey things they are going to find on the extra 21 chromosome and a trait of DS. While Collin did tip chairs once or twice it wasn't a biggy for him how ever dumping containers of any type was and it was enough to drive me crazy!! But, on the bright side he is now 5 and has moved on from that!!! YEAH!!!
Oh, I have to add the closing of doors and turning off of lights to Collins Quirkey behaviors.
