Sarah loves cake and cookies but doesn't eat candy. She will take a couple of licks off a sucker or eat a few M&Ms and she is done. She got tons of candy for Halloween and didn't eat a single piece of candy.

Sarah loves trick or treating but doesn't eat candy either. She just loves the experience.

Sarah has finally outgrown throwing everything. Not only has she thrown everything, she is also pretty good at hitting her target. She would throw just for the joy of throwing. I am so very grateful we are finally out of that stage. Honestly, I think she was about three when it started and didn't slow down until she was twelve.

Sarah is on Zoloft and it has been a wonder drug for her. About three years ago she started having some violent outbursts. It was very scary for everyone. She started taking Intuniv which helped but she was still generally grumpy. We finally tried Zoloft and she is a happy girl! We are pretty certain that Sarah was sexually abused at a babysitter's house several years ago. She was not verbal enough to tell us about it but showed just about every sign of being a victim of abuse. It was a sudden onset so we were able to pinpoint exactly when it happened. It makes me sick. I don't think the sitter did it, who was also a paraprofessional at her school, BUT I do think she allowed it to happen.

Wow, Susan! 22 just does not seem possible! I started visiting this site when Inwas pregnant with Sarah and she just turned 12 on September 10. Where does the time go?

Thanks, Susan. Yes, I probably just needed reassurance more than anything. Would you believe she started her first period last night. I just told her she needed to wear a pad until the bleeding stopped. Fortunately, the bleeding is very light and she doesn't appear to have cramps. I had severe cramps from the very first period so I was very worried. I gave her ibuprofen just in case. She went to day camp today and the staff said she did fine in the bathroom but needed pads without wings. Maybe she has already seen other girls change pads at school. I know she has been in the bathroom with me many times. Maybe God knew I needed to show her about periods. I am 55 and still having one every month. Geez!

I can't believe my little girl will be 12 in September. She has grown several inches and gained 20 pounds in the past year. She is also developing breasts and pubic hair. I know she could get her period any day. Truthfully, I have done nothing to prepare her for this but did buy some pads so we would be ready. I need some advice, please. Chris

I don't know anything about the public schools in Miami although I did go to graduate school at the University of Miami. I am not a fan of hot, humid weather but the winters are wonderful. Hope you like lizards!

I am sorry to hear of Samantha's loss. My daughter is such a Daddy's girl, I don't know how she would handle losing her dad. I got Sarah an iPad the Christmas before last and when she opened it she said, "Work" and threw it down. I guess she uses one at school. Anyway, my heart hurts for you and Samantha.
