Adam was born with one of his testiciles too high. well we waited like they told us to do as it sometimes comes down by itself, and they checked it every year. Well this year it has gotten right up to the top. Now they say he will need surgery, and may even have to remove the testical. I heard that it can twisted and go gangrene if not treated. The problem is Adam has had a lot of problems with intubation. The last time he had a reaction to the meds and stopped breathing during a sinple surgery. It ws only dental which should have taken 15 minutes but he ended up in ICU and was in surgery for 2 hours. I am terrified to have him put back to sleep. He also has a thracheal stenosis (narrowing of the thracha) about 50 100% qhich agravates the situation. As any of your boys been threw this and how was the surgery and reccuperation time.

I'm in the same boat. Adam is 7 and is just starting to vocalize some things like "juice please" which souds more like : OOZE PEEZE"and stuff like that. I think that we understood him for so long the way he wined that he did not need to talk. Now when he wines we simply tell him :Use your words Adam" We have tried everything and I think like the speech pathologist told us he will speak when he is ready. I understand him perfectly well, but stranger don't. Wish a had a miracle solution if you find one e-mail me at my personal e-mail. Hang in there I know it gets frustrating.

I forgot to add that we also bought the movie Bear in the Big Blue House (Adam;s favorite) It's called I like my potty. Bear trains the little mouse and makes it look fun. He was sure glued to the TV once he understood the pee and poop meant. He would even say " No pee in potty mouse" when the little mouse had an accident. ;D

Adam did not walk until he was 5. He is now 7 and fully potty trained during the day. The way we did it is before we started training him we thought him how to say pipi and poopoo. Once her understood the difference, we started figuring out when he would go. Then we set a routine and put him on the potty. Like at school everyday at 10am he was put on the potty so the same at home and so on. Every time he succeeded we made a real big deal of it, and when he had an acccident we didn't. We just said Oh well maybe next time Adam. It took us about a year to get to where we are now. If we go to a strange place we show him where the bathroom is and he has always asked to go, actually he loves new toilets. ;D Hope it works for you but I also beleive that the earlier you start the better. With Adam everything he learns is from routine and repetition. So that's what we worked with. Repetitions and eventually he caught on to what we were trying to do.

Adam had RSV while in the hospital for double pneumonia. Bad memories as we almost lost him. He was tranfered 500 miles away from home to a more equipped hospital and was there for 3 weeks. I was told that if the child is under 6 mths old it can be very serious. Well I am not sure what kind of meds they gave him as he had needles sticking out from every part of his body. Good luck.

As it stands now we can't get an appointment with Adam's doctor until the end of January. A friend told me she had tried Flaxseed oil and it gave her son more concentration and it is a natural product. Right now I have been trying it for 3 days and of course no changes but we will give it some time. Flaxseed oil is suppose to help with concentration and relaxation. I looked it up on preventive medicine on the net. I just fry his eggs in it or add a few drops to his juice and he doesn't even notice it. It would be great if it worked but the way Adam has been behaving lately I think both me and my Husband and his EA need a full bottle of Flaxseed oil a day. ;D

ADHD

Just needed to know if any of your children were diagnosed with ADHD, and how the testing was done. We are having so many unusual behavior problems with Adam this year it is overwhelming. It goes to being a little brat to an angel in 30 seconds. Also I have never see him so hyper in my life. He escapes from the classroom and runs as fast as he can with the EA after him and laughes his little head off. He thinks everything is funny. We do watch very carefully what he eats,(like sugar and stuff like that) but it is getting uncontrollable at school especially where there is more activities around him. It is like he is trying to have a power battle on behavior with everyone. His poor EA is so stressed out. He gets 100% EA at school. We are having another IPRC with all involved and a Crisis Behavior Team. I was just wondering about if any of your kids are on Ritalin and if it worked. My doctor suggested it and left it up to us to decide. My oldest son now 23 used Ritalin about 15 years ago and it made him a zombie during the day and not sleeping at night. Just wondering maybe they have a new kind of drug out there for kids with ADHD. We figure if we can only get him to concentrate on the for only 2 minutes and listen then it may be easier to help with the behavior. Until the behavior problems is settle it will be hard for him to learn anything. Any advice is welcome. Thanks Claire
