We did get the results back and his CBC was normal so, we may be going to see a hemoatologist to find out if anything else is going on.
It is a neat day when they decide to give blood on their own!!!

Well, I woke up this morning to a 2 hours delay (after missing 2 days because of snow). Collin woke up and proceeded to start complaining that his stomach hurt. This in its self would not be unnerving to me but after further investigation I found the child covered in petechiae and just a week or so earlier he was complaining for joint pain. I proceeded to send him on to school (if I kept him home every time he complained of a stomach ache he would never be at school ) So, I sent him off to school only to make it to work and 10 minutes later get a call from his aid saying "Collin only wants to lay down and he is complaining his stomach hurts...what do you want me to do?" I convinced her to send him down to the nurse and let him lay down and rest for a little bit to see if he could work through it. Well, about 30 minutes later...the nurse called. She had set the timer and when it went off asked him to get up and go to lunch with the rest of the kids. Which Collin went willingly. After gathering his tray and sitting down Collin continued to empty the contents of his stomach out on his tray!!! GROSS!!! The nurse called and asked me to come and get him....Once home the child was fine...not stomach ache or anything. I took him to the doctor this afternoon anyway because I am concerned about the joint and stomach pain and petechiae. . She basically did what I wanted and ordered blood work. Collin (now 10) jumped up in the chair, pushed up his sleeve and gave blood willingly from both arms...His right arm kept blowing:( He only verbally complained once but I never had to hold him. I did have resort to bribery and he got a chocolate shake!!! I am so proud of him! Now we wait for the results. Connie

This is the second (if not third) time this White House has made this mistake!!!
You would think it would have been covered in the "employment orientation" by the first person who made this blunder and was in charge of hiring/appointing these/this people/person!!! Obviously people with disabilities are not a big priority with him or his cabinet or this would not happening!!
It's never under any circumstance ok to make fun of people at the expense of others.
To quote Forrest Gump "Stupid is as Stupid does"

Well...the mammogram and rectal would be done to me and that would be OK (not fun but would live through it) but, it's a momma bear thing...not wanting to hear bad things about your kiddos even if you know what they are saying is true!!!
Ok...figured it out!!! Collin's birthday plus PMS!! So...make sure you plan your IEP's not on your child's birthday nor when your going to start. To many hormones and emotions to deal with on one day! LOL

Life Lesson --
No matter how great the school system you are in is or how well your IEP go...never schedule on on your childs birthday!!!
UGH!! I know my sons limitations and I don't deny them but its still hard to hear other people say it....espically on his birthday!!!
All in all....Great IEP though!!!

Kim,
Collin used one very similar to what you are describing when he was in preschool and kindergarten. Once he got the hang of it, it really was a helpful tool. We have just tweeked his as hes gotten older and his needs have changed.

We use the happy/sad face system with Collin and have for several years. It works really well for us. Collin is 9 and in the 2nd grade.
The was ours works is his day is broken down into sections (transitions were/are the toughest for Collin) and into two groups. Does things when told and respects adults/others. Collin has the opportunity to get around 18 happy faces a day and if he gets 90% happy he gets a small prize (candy, wii ticket, etc...). When he was younger say 6 or so he only had to get 60% we wanted to set it so he could be successful.
Collin could really careless about the treat he likes the smiley faces. I also bribe him with...you get all smiley faces (sometimes it if a daily bribe others it is weekly...depending on how or what is going on) and we will go get a chocolate shake, go bowling, or what ever he is interested in at the moment.
It took Collin a while to catch on to the concept...be consistent and she will get it.

It's been a while since I've posted but I couldn't pass up telling this one. For those who've been here a while you know I am a corporal mom (I believe in corporal punishment) and over the years I have been called by the vice-principal several times to apply punishment to Collin. Well today I received a call from the vice-principal, who had the principal in the office and they were all on speaker phone. I always dread hearing the VP's voice on the phone. Well after they made me sweat for a few minutes, the principal told me that this was good call and asked for my email addy, he needed to send me something before going into the story. He said Collin was at lunch and asked a little girl to open his drink, she just happened to be a police officers daughter, she told Collin that she didn't think he would like the drink and thought it would make him sick. He proceeded to take a drink!! The principal asked me to now open the email.....what do I see? Any guesses? Anyone? I see a can of Miller Light!!!! I had helped him pack his lunch this morning but I only put in a can of Vienna Sausage, Chips and Apple slices....I have no idea when he put the drink in his bag!!! You can say I am completely embarrassed but...at least the school had a good laugh!!! I spoke to Collin special ed teacher today....we both think he knew what he was doing but, did not understand how serious the situation was because he told his aid today that he had a "special" drink for lunch. Needless to say we had a good long and serious discussion. Don't think he will be doing this again!! Remember when your going through a rough time, it can always be worse. Your 2nd grader can take a beer to school!!! Connie
