Ok Justin now 6 is doing awesome this year (gotta love those meds), he is actually the leader of the class. He no longer has a mild loss in his left ear, his speech is taking off, he has graduated from the ped cardio to once every 2 years YEAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! yes the VSD is still there but closing slowly but surely. He's 53 lbs and 48 inches tall. Parent Teacher Conferences were great finally this year instead of sitting there listening about how he helps the others eat, not sitting still, taking toys from others, not listening and taking off we got to hear how much they love him, how he's helping the other kids, how much he's changed from the previous years geeeesh it was only suppose to last 10 minutes and we were in there for 45 minutes LOL. The boy can hit a baseball even without the t ball stand and man look out when he throws it lol too bad it wasn't football maybe he could help out those Lions' LOL. Big sis Alyssa was just diagnosed with sleep apnea so we are awaiting her cpap uggggggggh. Her asthma is out of control so now she is classified as moderate to severe and now qualified for childrens special health insurance. She was upset cause it kept her from playing basketball, volleyball and marching band. We talked to the band teacher and he's letting her try again tonight is her first parade brrrrrrrrr. She has managed to keep her GPA up even missing alot of school, a 3.8 we are so proud. Little sis Ashley well Ashley is still Ashley 9 yrs old and still only 56 lbs, playing floor hockey although when she stands sideways we loose her behind the hockey stick , she is getting back into gymnastics and just adores her little bro ( ok so he can pick her and move her out of the way). Cousin Brandon is doing great still playing football and has managed to keep his grades up as well even with all the conditioning, weight training and practices he ended up with a 3.0 big stuff considering he was at a 1.0 when he came to live with us 2 years ago. I think that just about covers it for now. Hugs everyone

My oldest daughter, nephew and Justin are all on Flovent, all dx'd with asthma, Justins been on it for 3 yrs., Alyssa off and on for 8yrs and our nephew for about a year now. They have done better with the Flovent because it works as a long lasting med whereas the albuterol is short term fast acting med. It does help during the winter months because of all the upper respiratory bugs, hope it helps. Xopenex here too Bob, just for Justin though because of the heart issue, Alyssa still has the albuterol for the nebulizer. She also has to take Pulmicort and Foradil twice a day via nebulizer along with Singulair. She has moderate to severe asthma and she's 14, Justin on the other hand knock on wood only gets a bit wheezy with the weather change so now until the spring thaw is bad for us. Hers is weather, exercise, allergy triggered, so she's one ticked off girl because she isn't allowed to go out for volleyball and basketball at school

Justins' school is about 10 miles away and he takes the bus and has been since he was 3 of course I couldn't help myself the first week or 2 and followed the bus. He absolutely LOVES the bus ;D. If you are going to be driving Laura you can also have transportation added to the IEP just in case you can't drive her like car is broke down or flat tire or you are sick, we did that with my nephew.

Thanks Chris, do you happen to know if they sedate, I'll tell ya after today I'm about tempted to get a rubber mallet for the next visit. The versed did absolutely nothing this time . We were almost scheduled to go to U of M as an outpatient. It took the doc, me and 2 others to get one cap and one fillling done, unfortunately we can't use the gas on him cause he's a major mouth breather, so one more trip in 2 weeks and we're done for awhile I hope . He was papoosed and everything and still managed to give us the slip.

Jessie that was our problem as well no one would even consider seeing Justin around here. We just had our second visit to U of M dental school this time for a cleaning and xrays and next week to work on 3 of his ground down teeth. We also have private dental but still no one would take him, I even begged them to at least try but kept hitting the same brick wall grrrrrr. Like I said we have been there twice and so far both times we were in the waiting room for maybe 10 minutes tops, the staff has been awesome with Justin.

Robin not sure if this is what you are looking for but she is the one Justin sees, www2.med.umich.edu/departments/pediatrics/index.cfm?fuseaction=Peds.facultyBio&individual_id=17928&um_department=Pediatrics%20and%20Communicable%20Diseases. She really is awesome, I had a problem with a script she had written and I called the answering service and they said they couldn't but looked again and she is the only doc that had it writtten down that she was to be called with any questions regarding her patients and it was like 8 pm and she called immediately back. She did have Justin go through a battery of tests before giving him something, 2 different sleep studies, MRI, and blood tests, questionnaires from his teachers (the conner's test I think). She's located down on the 1st floor area D I think of the Taubman center.

We just had Justin up to the Dental School at U of M Pediatric clinic. His first appointment was more of an info type thing and a quick check, there the Dentist gave us a script for antibiotics for him to take an hour prior to the visit and another for versed-sedation med that was given once we got there by the doc. We had him there just this morning for xrays and cleaning and a plan of action. He was not totally knocked out but man was he ever spacy he kinda reminded me of the baby in the womb in Look Who's Talking when they gave Kirsti Alley the demerol LOL. But they put him on a papoose board and he did great although after every xray he insisted on a high five from everyone in the blasted room. They monitored him during the whole process. We go back in 2 weeks for a cap and 2 cavities that need to be filled, it kinda stinks we have to wait but it's because of the antibiotics he needs before hand. Oh yeah and Justin will be 6 in June.

Laura that is exactly what Justin's Behavioralist and Ped. Neuro said too about the Sleep deprivation vs. ADHD so before they would prescribe anything for ADHD they did a full sleep study and a sleep deprived study and a MRI before they would even consider putting him on anything. Well I'm still convinced it's more sleep deprivation than anything else but the pills do work provided he has had a good sleep, I did let the docs know this and we did try him off the pills for a while but he definitely needs the kick from the pills, but he still has problems if he doesn't get enough sleep just not as extreme. He did have the T/A out when he was 2 but he still mouth breathes, snores and sleeps in the Taco position. As for the tonsils growing back ummm yep my moms did, it was kinda funny the doc is asking her questions about previous surgeries and they come to the T/A and she says yep they're gone and after the exam he says well hate to break it to you but they're back
