Good news. I had applied for a companion dog for Adam with the National Service Dogs and they have one ready for adoption. She had been trained for an autistic little girl but was to frigity in public places so they offered her to us. She is a golden retreiver, her name is Falyn and she is 2 years old. We pick her up this week. We have to travel a 10 hour drive to get her, but it will be well worth the drive. I'll post a picture of her and Adam when she gets here. ;D

Boy I think we have all been there, so know you are not alone. I'm sure if we asked our parents they could tell us some stories about us too. ;D ;D My worst embarrassement was not from Adam (DS) but my second oldest (not DS). He was 10 years old, waiting for me to finish work at a restaurant I worked at back then. He was quietly sitting there sipping on his orange juice. There were 4 men sitting at the counter beside him. Out of knowwhere (I guess he wanted to prove he was a man) he turned to one of them and said " I know my mom isn't a virgin cause she had 2 babies" Boy was my face red. He is now 24 and we all laugh about this, so don't worry too much you may be laughing at it too someday. PS: Our little brat Adam 7 who is DS has cause us major embarrassement too. ;D ;D

Hi, Claire mom to Adam 6, from a small town called Cochrane in Northern, Ontario, Canada. I live where Tim Horton ,the hockey player was originally from Cochrane and started the first Tim Horton Donuts. Seems like a lot of you are from the States so just in case you don't know where I live it is not too far from the Polar Bears. ;D ;D ;D It can sure get cold. Grrr.....

I am an orphan but if I had parents so generous I would also be very upset. Make him pay the differnce to your parents, even at son mcuh a month, whatever he can afford. It would show good faith and problably ease your anger.

It has never happened to us but I think I would call the police as soon as possible, or even ask the salon owner to do so. They probably had the name and number of this lady. Maybe she is a mean person are maybe she just needs help coping with some issues. Either way she needs help or better yet the child needs help. I would never embarrase my child that way either, whether it be Adam or any of my other 3 kids. Boy some people need to get better manners. PS: Now that I think of it I would have probably smacked that lady. Which would have been a bad thing fro me to do.

WTG Paige. Once Adam was toilet traine dit was so much easier. Within 6 mths he is now also trained for at night. Only one wet pull up in 6 mths. That's a big step and just before school too. WTG.

;DWell Steff, Adam is in a grade one with a 100% TA. He goes to Sr. Kindergaten in the afternoon for 1 hour for circle time. He also gets 30 minutes in the morning with the Special Ed Supervisor who helps with the communication and computer skills. All in all he has a modified curriculum, but goes to recess, reading, gym, music and art with the peers from the grade one. He is not doing to bad at school, although for some reason this year his favorite game is to run out of the class and scoop in the first class room that he sees. He is quite active this year compared to last year. Must be the terrible 2 stage that will last 3 years. ;D

As you can see from all the posting that I have done in just this one night I really missed this board. My computer needed fixing, so no puter for 2 weeks drove me nuts. ;D ;D ;D Glad to be back.

Thanks for making us all aware. I will defenitely sned something via mail for the family. We spent $11,000. Canadian in Adam's first 2 years of life on medical expenses, and we are a one income family. I think we all know how expensive it can get when our children are that sick.
