sorry to hear that Chris faces yet another procedure... but glad that they could get you guys in much sooner than originally scheduled. If what he has is like what I just had removed - ginormous fatty tumor on my right forearm - the dermatologist used a local anesthetic after using a topical anesthetic ( what a sweetheart this doc is!!! didn't even want me to have to feel the needle for the local! ). All was done in the OR but I was out of there in about an hour and went back to work! Lucky me, had it done during my lunch hour since I had to work at the hospital that day!
I'll be crossing my fingers that they can do something like that for Chris, I know how much you dislike the thought of a general anesthesia!

The Boston Globe is reporting that Eunice Kennedy Shriver is in the intensive care unit of Cape Cod Hospital. No specifics on what the problem is though. For those who don't know, she is the founder of Special Olympics.
Prayer for Ms Shriver and her family going out from Buffalo.

Just saw this post. Alison is also very sensitive to both loud noises, particularly unexpected ones, and to others crying or yelling. As she's gotton "older" (she's 6 now) it's gotton easier to deal with. When we were at Disney, I had her hold her hands over her ears during the fireworks ( this bad, evil Mommy was not going to miss fireworks just because Alison didn't like the noise!). When we go to a movie or some of the plays at school I have her wear a pair of headphones ( the kind that just cut the noise level ) It's gotton to where she will wear them for the start of things but will eventually take them off as she seems to get accustomed to the volume.
As far as her sensitivity to other kids crying, got nothing for ya there!!! Alison just hates to see anyone else crying or sad. She'll go over to the other child and rub their back and say things like "No cry, is okay." I try to explain to her that it's ok to be sad and to cry sometimes. Don't know how much of that she really "gets" though.
Good luck with your beautiful, sensitive little gal!

Okay, finished this up and as usual LOVED it! Another crazy funny read! I so wish these would be made into a movie - I've got almost all the characters already casted in my head!
Hope you all enjoy this one as much as I did!

We had such a great time!!! Alison loved every minute from the time we got to the airport until we got back home. I've got about 500 pictures to wade through! I think her favorite part was the flying Dumbo ride and of course getting to meet Arielle. We did a Princess dinner and poor Snow White, Alison spied Arielle coming along behind her and just kept saying "Snow White, look Arielle coming next! I see Arielle!". Alison couldn't have cared less about Snow White if she tried at that point!
And we were lucky enough to get reservations for the Fireworks Desert Party at Magic Kingdom that Bob posted about. All I can say is I thought I'd died and gone to heaven!!! LOL It was wonderful - every kind of desert you could think of from a pistachio creme brulee (sp?) to rice krispie treats! We had a great view of the fireworks and Cinderella's castle from the Noodle Terrace in Tomorrowland. It's not on the dining plan but was well worth the price! Alison I discovered is not a big fan of fireworks - just too loud for her even with earplugs in! Poor bug fell asleep right at the end with her hands covering her ears!
I may have created another Christopher (CC's character) because all Alison has said for the last couple of days we've been home is "When going Disney again? Show on lender ( calendar )". Had to burst her little bubble and show her that on Monday she starts her summer school!
Anyway, I'll look at pics more tomorrow and post a few!

Wow! I can't believe how grown up Justin has gotton! Guess it's been a longer time than I realized since we were all in Pittsburgh! What a handsome young man you've got there - can we talk dowry for him and Alison?
Alison tells me on an almost daily basis "Tooth lost. All gone" since her classmates started losing their first teeth! She doesn't even have a loose tooth yet!

Have you tried paper tape? It can be a bit tougher to get off but with a piece of gauze (or lint! ) it's a close 2nd for a band aid. We use paper tape at the hospital I work at all the time on the little ones - ya never know when that latex allergy will rear it's ugly head.
