Tricia, I am so SORRY!!!! But, the Tooth Fairy has a NO REFUND policy and reports any missing money to the athorities!!! It's so neat he understands that. I'm not sure Collin would as to be honest we really have never talked about it. Funny how we parents get excited over little things. Mine was Collin leaving his pants on to go #2 in the bathroom. Hugs, Connie

GREAT A!!!! I can relate to the BIGGER house thing and can tell you it is so much better being in the BIGGER house. We went from a 2 bedroom, 1300 sq ft house to a 5 bedroom 4100+ sq ft house....You will absolutely love it and not tripping over each other!!! Connie

Jessie, I wanted to make sure you didn't think I was questioning YOU because I'm not I'm just asking general questions as I hate things like this!!! In reference to being honest upfront ant telling them he has DS, I agree honesty is the best policy but I am beginning to think there are times when we as parents need to release information on a need to know basis. Then let them discriminate to our faces because not having that phone line as protection I think they would change there tone really quick.

Jesse, What is their reasoning behind this? If he's not a problem why aren't they willing to work with him and atleast give him a chance? It may take a few regular visits before they are able to do a complete cleaning but what's wrong with that? Connie

Jessie, I have seen my dentist for the last 22 years (we will leave it at that and not say how old I am!!! ;D ). I started taking my kids to him when they were 3 but for some reason I thought Collin needed to see a Pedeatric Dentist. He saw him 1x at 18 months and that was it because I switched him to see my dentist and things have worked out wonderful. Everyone loves him. Things have gotten better each time we go to the dentist. This last time he did a complete cleaning with no problems. They only push him as far as he is willing to tolerate them because they don't want to tramatized him or scare him.
He has never had any cavities or other problems except for some minor wearing of his front teath. But, I figure we if he does we will try our dentist and if it doesn't work we will look for someone who has more experience with children that can be difficult at times...my dentist will not sedate children because he doesn't want to be made out to be the bad guy!!! So, my suggestion is if he doesn't need anything more than a cleaning try your own dentist and don't freak out if they don't do a whole cleaning. Have them start like a normal cleaning with the tools and counting his teeth (the metal tools sometime freak Collin out...he doesn't like the feeling in his mouth but he is getting better) the go on to the spinny brush, etc....1 baby step at a time. Claire, Collin is 6 and has played soccer for the last 2 years in a 6 and under league. He is eligible to move up this year but I chose to keep him back because I was afraid that he would get hurt because even though the 8 and under league is not suppose to be competitive it is really really competetive. This has been going on for the last 4-6 weeks but I didn't want to post anything because I didn't want to JINX it!!! ;D This may not apply to most of you with boys but for Collin it was a major issue!!! Collin, because his "little buddy" is so little has always taken everything off from the waste down when he has had to go #2 so, that he could sit way back on the toilet seat. Well at the beginning of last school year I started working with him just leaving 1 leg on so that things would move faster after he was done but, he would not do this at school. In January we had it written into his IEP as a goal that he would go to the bathroom and leave one leg of clothing on. They really started working on this. In March he switched from a 50/50 special ed class with 12 kids aged 3-5 to a typical class with 25 kids and only about 2 kids with special needs with all these kids being 4-5 (or going into kindy next year). A few of the kids in the class took Collin under their wing and broke quite a few of his bad behaviors. To make a long story short he now goes to the bathroom and leaves all this clothes on!!!! But, always makes it a point to "POINT" his little friend DOWN....I am so thankful for that!!! ;D The little things we get excited about!!! Connie

Susan, I've not posted because I've not been sure what to say. But, my hopes and prayers are that it is a PHASE she is going through. All children, young adults and adults go through them it is just a normal part of developement for all of us no matter what the age. I know Griffin and Gray are going through the mouthy phase and Michael (DH) is going through the non-compliance stage (LOL)... I pray this will come and go for you and Emily. Connie

Chris, Collin mostly takes baths but every once in a while Michael or myself will get in and turn the shower on. Lets just say he's not a happy camper and proceeds to act like his in in pain. It's funnly but we get the same reaction to rain but he's fine playing in a sprinkler...go figure!!! Connie
